The Body is a Portal,
a somatic movement workshop
9:30a-12p | Garth Newel Music Center
Join Kathi Hendrick for an intimate, immersive workshop held inside the beautiful Garth Newel Music Center, inviting you to slow down, listen deeply, and return to the innate intelligence of the body. Through guided somatic awareness and intuitive, body-led movement, we’ll attune to the subtle language of sensation, impulse, and rhythm.
This is not about performing or getting it “right”—it’s about coming into an honest relationship with your own body. From this grounded presence, movement becomes a living expression of the present moment—an authentic dance that arises from within.

Drawing from the themes of PORTALS—the Friday evening performance exploring descent, transformation, and re-emergence—we’ll invite participants to step inside the experience themselves. Through movement, we’ll trace personal and collective thresholds, allowing what’s been hidden, held, or waiting to emerge to find shape through the body.

Whether you are an artist, a former dancer, or simply curious, this space welcomes you into a creative process where the body leads and the mind softens. Together, we’ll explore solo and group practices that support embodied expression, emotional alchemy, and the emergence of spontaneous choreography.
Come as you are. No dance experience is needed—only a willingness to move and be moved.

Space is limited to 12 people.

Closing Gathering
10:30-11:30a | Garth Newel Music Center
As the Living Arts Gathering comes to a close, we invite you to return once more—to the circle, to the breath, to the heart of what we’ve created together. This final gathering is a space to reflect, integrate, and honor the experiences of the weekend: the performances that moved us, the workshops that opened us, the connections that rooted us in shared purpose.

Together, we’ll pause to listen—to the stories that want to be spoken, the visions that want to be named, and the subtle shifts that have taken root in our bodies and imaginations. Through collective reflection, intention-setting, and a simple creative ritual, we’ll ask: How do we carry this forward? How do we continue to vitalize art, culture, and community in this region—not just for a weekend, but as an ongoing act of regeneration?

Whether you offered, received, witnessed, or simply wandered through this weekend, your voice and presence are a vital thread in this living tapestry.

This is open to anyone who attended performances or workshops throughout the weekend.
